I have followed the issue Rhonda Thurman raised about school administrator vacation and sick leave very closely. Kudos to you, Rhonda. I thoroughly agree that reasonable caps should be placed on vacation and sick leave accrual. Almost every corporation, small business, and non-profit organization in America puts limits on accrued paid time off. And for good reason. This limits the financial liability the organization has when an employee is terminated, voluntarily or involuntarily, or when he or she retires. On the second issue that arose from this controversial request Rhonda made... She simply asked for accrued paid time off dollar figures, not their pay. If people have the time to back into what salaries administrators are paid, more power to them. Although, if they went to a public school in Chattanooga, they would probably have difficulty with the mathematics required to calculate such numbers.
